Before you disavow anything
Most sites never need to disavow
Google already ignores the bulk of spammy links on its own. Disavowing is meant for cases where you've built or bought manipulative links, or received a manual action for unnatural links.
Disavowing good links can hurt
Removing credit for genuine links can lower your rankings. Review each domain by hand before adding it — a 'toxic' score from a third-party tool isn't enough on its own.
Prefer whole domains
Spam sites often link to you from dozens of pages and add new ones over time. Disavowing the domain covers all of them, including ones you haven't found yet.
Uploading replaces the old file
Search Console keeps only one disavow file per property. Merge your previous file with new entries before uploading, or you'll undo your earlier work — just paste both into the box above.
